I did this watercolor last January during my "downtime" after sifting through old photos of my childhood. I had done many of these little paintings years earlier, but switched to other things. The whistles happily dominated my time. Now I am returning to the medium as well as drawing in general - especially after thumbing through the Acme Novelty Date Books. Chris Ware's notes to himself to "draw more!" "draw everything" "draw anything" "draw better!" goaded me into making a sketchbook for larger images than those contained in my pocket sized notebook.
